Least Popular Bills in Post-Session Poll

Governor Greg Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick both have hailed the Texas regular session's production as historically exceptional. Texas House and Senate Republicans aren't going to disagree with the breathless hyperbole after voting in lockstep on the Patrick priorities that became the consensus agenda for both chambers in the final analysis.
But Texas lawmakers who want honest opinions on the fruits of their labor can check out the results of a highly-intriguing poll that the University of Texas made public this week. The Texas Politics Project survey of 1,200 registered that conducted in the first half of June gave the clear impression that the top Texas leaders' popularity is tied directly to President Donald Trump's approval marks which went down here for the third time in five months.
The UT poll found that one in every four Texas voters think the Legislature did a good job in regular session. A lowly 26 percent approved to some degree on state lawmakers work here during the past six months.
First-Term House Speaker Dustin Burrows scored positive reviews from 16 percent compared to 31 percent who disapproved of his performance in his leadership debut. Forty-two percent gave Patrick a thumbs down in the poll that showed him with a 30 percent approval mark in the session's aftermath. Abbott wasn't exactly a rock star in the survey that showed him underwater for the first time with a 41 percent approval rate compared to 44 percent who disapproved. But the governor could get a boost from his veto of a highly-unpopular THC ban this week.
