Have Better 2024 Odds than Texas Gov

The Las Vegas bookmakers haven't appeared to be that impressed by Governor Greg Abbott's dramatic swing to the far right - with the Texas leader listed on Friday as the potential presidential contender with the 28th best odds for a victory at the top of the ticket in 2024.

Three fellow Texans - U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Houston and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban - have odds that are twice as high as Abbott's to be the next president based on the Sin City prognosticators at the gambling site Bovada this afternoon.

Vegas gives Democrat Beto O'Rourke a significantly better shot than Abbott at a win in the White House competition three years from now. The oddsmakers in Sin City had Abbott today at +10000 for a triumph in the 2024 general election compared to +6600 for O'Rourke as a former congressman who's expected to run for governor next year.

A $1,000 bet on Abbott would pay a whopping $100,000 if he claims the presidency with a victory in 2024. The same amount would only return $66,000 for a one thousand dollar wager on O'Rourke.

Cruz has the highest odds for a Texan in the next presidential sweepstakes at +4000 on Friday. Crenshaw and Cuban were both +5000 this afternoon. While Vegas doesn't consider the Texas governor to be a serious contender for president, Abbott would be glad to know that Matthew McConaughey is tied for the lowest odds among 55 choices that LV has ranked for a potential race for president.

McConaughey was rated +20000 today along with former congressional Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Tommy Turbeville of Alabama.

Abbott has the same odds for victory in 2024 as Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, who's an underdog based on recent polling in a bid to unseat Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in the GOP primary election next year. Abbott is tied with fellow GOP Governor Charlie Baker of Massachusetts and Republican U.S. Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Mitt Romney of Utah in terms of their odds for being the next president.

Abbott's odds are identical to Democrats Hillary Clinton, Michael Bloomberg, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and former congressional member Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii. Gabbard was the first Hindu and Samoan to ever serve in Congress.

Condoleeza Rice, who served as secretary of state in the George W. Bush White House, has the same odds as Abbott for a win in the presidential contest in 2024. JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon also is tied with Abbott at +10000.

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's odds are twice as high as Abbott's in the next president election according to the Vegas lines today. The list of potential contenders who have better odds than the Texas governor includes actor Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson at +3300 - three times higher than Abbott.

The list of possible candidates who have odds that are twice as good as Abbott's includes Democratic U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Donald Trump Jr., Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams, rapper Kanye West and Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Abbott had the 11th highest odds in Vegas on Friday for a victory in the presidential primary for the Republicans in 2024.

Donald Trump Sr. has the best odds for a 2024 general election victory at +300 with Democratic President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at +450 and +600 respectively in LV today. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is the second highest rated Republican at +800 for wagering on the winner of the next race for president.

Ivanka Trump is a better bet than Abbott according to the LV bookmakers at +8000.
